Gemini: Opportunities through your associations with others can be very healthy for you, but you must be careful not to gloss over the more serious aspects of what's happening. This isn't just fun and games, even if it is associated with good times. You are able to do something now that enriches your spirit, especially if it involves being with friends. It's up to you to embrace the chance to share yourself with those who are close to you.
Two major astrological events are on the horizon: First, on June 15, Mercury goes retrograde in sensitive Cancer. This marks a wonderful time to delve into your feelings and explore -- and perhaps correct! -- those creature-of-habit patterns you just can't shake. Since Cancer also represents family and the past, the upcoming retrograde will also be a good opportunity to reconnect with relatives, as well as to reminisce and actively cherish your memories. Get out the photo album or get on the phone -- this is the perfect chance to catch up and empower yourself as an individual via the strength of your closest bonds and relationships.
The second major astrological happening in June occurs on the 21st, when the Sun enters Cancer, signaling the official start of summer! Otherwise known as the Summer Solstice, the Sun enters nurturing Cancer every year at this time. The compassionate, sensitive sign of the Crab paves the way for you to reach out to others emotionally and ensure your security in all matters, from those of the heart to the logical mind. Again, Cancer is also the sign of family, so take time to reflect on your kin and the unique ties you share.

on if i could be like that
The stars on the big screen
Then he lies awake and he wonders, why
Can't that be me
Cause in his life he is filled with all these
Good intentions
He's left a lot of things he'd rather not
Mention right now
But just before he says goodnight, he looks
Up with a little smile at me and he says
If I could be like that, I would
Give anything
Just to live one day, in those shoes
If I could be like that, what would I do
What would I do
Now and dreams we run
She spends her days up in the north park,
Watching the people as they pass
And all she wants is just a little piece of
This dream, is that too much to ask
With a safe home, and a warm bed, on a
Quiet little street
All she wants is just that something to
Hold onto, that's all she needs
Yeah!
If I could be like that, I would
Give anything
Just to live a day, in those shoes
If I could be like that, what would I do,
What would I do
I'm falling into this, in dreams
We run away
If I could be like that, I would
Give anything just to live a day, in those shoes
If I could be like that, what would I do,
What would I do
falling in
I feel I'm falling in, to this again
on Song of Solomon 8:6-7 (wedding)
As a seal upon your arm.
For love is strong as death.
Many waters cannot quench love.
Neither can the floods drown it.
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it; if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be condemned.
Always keep me in your heart and wear this bracelet to remember by. The passion of love bursting into flame is more powerful than death, stronger than the grave. Love cannot be drowned by oceans or floods; it cannot be bought, no matter what is offered.

on do you know...
At least you can predict this every year
Love, you never know the minute it ends suddenly
I can't get it to speak
Maybe if I knew all the things it took to save us
I could fix the pain that bleeds inside of me
Look in your eyes to see something about me
I'm standing on the edge and I don't know what else to give.
Do you know what it feels like loving someone that's in a rush to throw you away?
Do you know, do you know, do you know, do ya?
Do you know what it feels like to be the last one to know the lock on
the door has changed?
How can I love you?
How can I love you?
How can I love you?
How can I love you?
If you just don't talk to me, babe.
I flow through my act
There's a question: Is she needed?
And decide all the man I can ever be.
Looking at the last 3 years like I did
I could never see us ending like this.
(Do you know?)
Seeing your face no more on my pillow
Is a scene that's never ever happened to me.
(Do you know?)
But after this episode I don't see
You could never tell the next thing life could be
Do you know what it feels like loving someone that's in a rush to throw you away?
Do you know, do you know, do you know, do ya?
Do you know what it feels like to be the last one to know the lock on
the door has changed?
on courtship or dating
Is courtship a viable means for people to find their mate?
> It's interesting, life that is. It throws you so many surprises, so many challenges; it tests your trust, your faith, and hope not only in yourself but in others. And although you want to just reach out and take control of your life you know you must WAIT on God for His direction and timing. We see this practically in waiting and believing that God will provide for you a spouse. What are the mysteries and secrets of finding that special one that you will love forever? You might ask yourself, "What is the difference between courtship and dating?" God is deeply involved in your lives: "You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). As we wait in His presence and let God guide our steps, He will bless us beyond comprehension.
> How is the courtship system different from the dating system? As a couple begins a courting relationship, they both have a clear purpose: to consider marriage. A couple only enters a courtship relationship after they ... believe it is the right choice. This period of time before entering a courtship relationship is where we must put our trust in God, for this period can involve waiting. ... The intent of courtship has a long-term view. Courtship challenges a person to trust and wait patiently on God, and to live a responsible and unselfish life.
> The principles of dating are man-centered and determined by the culture, whereas courtship principles are God-centered. ... One might ask, if dating is so wonderful then why does it cause so much pain? With dating, a couple generally looks for satisfaction through a short-term relationship, gratifying only a physical or emotional need. Dating can be called off easily, sometimes with no hurt, and other times with great hurt. Also, the couple is usually not serious about marriage and only along for immediate pleasures. This practice often ends in disaster rather than a happy and joyful relationship.
> What is the importance of waiting? It's simple, really; as we wait we put our trust and faith in God to move in our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to gie you hope and a future." God watches over us. Many people might say, "You are crazy to wait for a spouse. It's absurd; the only way you can get to know someone is if you date a variety of people until you find the right one." Well I challenge these people to wait on God for Him to provide a spouse. You might ask, "How will I get married if I don't try to find my spouse?" With that man-centered mindset, you are, in reality, telling God you don't trust Him and lack faith in Him to provide for you a husband. If God provides everything else, then why can't he provide for you the greatest thing in life? Our focus should be on Christ, not on trying to find our mate. ... Seek God first and He will give you your heart's desires. ... Don't rush into dating for fear of losing "the one," but trust in God and pray. Ask other to pray with you and be sure God is leading you before telling that special someone you love them. If you truly love them, then you can wait.
> Is love a feeling, a physical attraction, an emotion, or something more? Love entails trials and responses that prove a person's trustworthiness and commitment; it is not just a gushy feeling in your stomach or the passionate desires of your heart. Love can't be confirmed at first meeting. The basis of a good relationship is faith, trust, and love, and as we trust in God and align our thoughts and actions to His Word, He will bless us.
> Let us hold fast to His promises and step out in faith by waiting on God. God will give us the best if we are willing to wait. Remember, God watches out for yo, and will provide for every single one of your needs.
on waiting
An idea thought of by God
Breathing the stale air of man
Each day a discovery of new joy, new hope
Forgotten past pain yet felt
Learning to be satisfied with the unseen
Seeking the unfelt
The heart cries from depths undiscovered
Only known by the earthquake of pain
Will the tremors cease, will the end be found
I'm here on earth seeking a God I've never seen
Believing in promises not yet breathed
Holding onto dreams not yet uttered
The battle is being fought, the war already decided
The would heal, scars fase, stories disappear with time
"I won't give up" I shout with courage
yet I find my heart shaking in fear
I show the world the strength in my stance
The hope in my eyes, the joy in my heart
Is it the true me that's exposed, the me that cries for help
The me that asks will I ever be the one
Days and nights fade away
The future, just a glimmer as far as the eye can see
The strength in my stance
Nothing more than learning not to fall
The hope in my eyes
Nothing more than light catching last night's tears
The joy in my heart
The only strength I have left
So here I am in the waiting place
An idea thought of by God
nothing more to do but wait
hope and hold on
- Sena Woodall
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry (Psalm 40:1)
on strength of character
on a matter of probability
Truth is only that which is taken to be true. - Tom Stoppard
I remember you most when I am home:
cracked brown leaves on my lawn,
retired blue shirt in its drawer,
accidental photos carelessly pressed
onto pages behind cheap cellophane.
but your name is pselled out here:
the street signs state it calmly
as though it were mere coincidence
that brought me here.
I pass you last name three times a week
and I wonder must i must be like
to live on your street,
remember how my teacher once said
in this room of thirty, in one of our sixty lungs
rested a molecule that Caesar exhaled when he breathed his last.
It was a statistically inescapable fact.
How then must molecules last
forever unchanged
and what it must be like
to be this kind of truth?- able to be
proven mathematically,
but no other way.

on darfur/sudan
what happened to yesterday
we're somewhere between sleep and awake
tell me what happened to her to the land of the sand
but no such luck, she's lost in sudan
and she's marching to where none return
i closed my eyes, i made a wish for her and blew my candles out
that she may enjoy cake of her own, and friends milling about
i wished her many birthday gifts, but time in unfair and fast
she never knew which day would be her last
that she would be marching to where none return
next day the soldiers came and took them all away
forced the town to get up and march for miles and mile a day
she held her head high, there were tears in her eyes
for gone are her friends, and gone are their smiles
for no laughter dwells where none return
tell me, where is her birthday cake
and where is she, if you can
somewhere 'twix sleeping and awake
but no, she's lost in darfur, deep in the heart of sudan
killings every day, can you see the slain?
the girl is dying, cna you feel her pain?
the piles of bodies, can you smell them burn?
who knew that sudan would become a place from where none return
